PICC 3D Print Lab

Welcome to the MAE 3D print lab. The Mechanical Engineering 3D print service is here to print objects for any of the Mechanical or Aerospace engineering classes. Classes include ME1720, ME2761, ME2653, and more.

How to Get Started

Step 1: Review the 3D printing requirements.

Step 2: Prepare your design file in .STL format.

Step 3: Submit your design for printing

3D Printing Requirements

  • Parts exceeding 150 x 150 x 150 mm or 200g will require more approval (For reference, a standard cellphone is approximately 155 mm in length).
  • Parts smaller than 5 x 5 x 5 mm will not be considered for printing.
  • We have a maximum print capacity of 700g per group unless approved by Dr. Mulligan.
  • Design your models with minimal overhangs to avoid the need for additional supports.
  • Tolerances of 0.6 mm (0.023 in) or greater can be held.
  • Supports are automatically placed for parts with an angle greater than 40 degrees from the vertical.
  • Our 3D print managers will not remove supports on your behalf.
  • 3D print managers always retain the right to refuse service.
  • We kindly request that all design files be submitted in .stl format. Please feel free to submit your files in a compressed ZIP format at your convenience.
